A dense field of dark, chrome-veined apertures covers this shawl, front and back. Each opening is ringed in pale filament, like frost or fine wire, and holds an inner core of light: molten amber in most of them, cold blue-white in a handful, and in several of those a second, smaller ring glows further back still, so the eye keeps finding another opening behind the first.
The back is this field alone, mirrored edge to edge with no gap in the pattern. The front carries the same apertures across both panels, but where they meet at the center front the print breaks pattern: the round openings give way to a stack of rectangular frames, receding straight back like the mouth of a corridor, visible in the gap the shawl leaves when it is worn open.
The shawl is cut from a 95% polyester, 5% spandex knit at 180 grams per square meter, a lightweight fabric with enough spandex to drape rather than hang stiff. It comes in a regular, single-size fit (M only), with flat dimensions of 61 by 53 inches (155 by 134.5cm), and dropped, kimono-style sleeves worn open at the front. Seams are finished in black or white thread to match the surrounding print. Wash it cold with similar colors, do not bleach, tumble dry low, and skip both the iron and dry cleaning.
